Digital Journeys
A workshop as part of In And Of The Land’s public programme for Brighton Photo Fringe 2020
–

One windy Saturday morning in October, our group of five went on a walk along the South Downs way to Cuckmere Haven and back again.
As we climbed the eroded path following the cliff edge, the wind whipped at our hair and faces and as we absorbed the beautiful landscape around us, we each began to capture our unique visual experience.
Chalk, grass, leaves, mounds, holes and gates… lots to see, lots to capture and lots to talk about.
The marks we left on the land that day. Paths created by our footprints, created by a desire to wander. Journeys recorded as digital footprints.
They mingled with those left by nature – created by the tide, the wind, the animals. Marks of a life around us unseen, just as our photographs would be in the digital cloud.
Snap, crunch, whoosh… the ephemeral sounds surrounding us on our journey echo in our memories as we look back at our images.
The small windows into our minds at the time being passed around like a game of consequences from one viewer to the next at the click of a button.
What do they mean to you? What does your imagination morph them into?
